about

A thoughtful, melodic look into the thoughts of soldiers through their journeys in war.

lyrics

As you step into new land, don’t you feel like such a hero?
Fighting for a great big cause
As you are near a battle, don’t you feel like such a martyr?
Doing what must be done

You watch all your friends die
And people just like them die
Don’t you feel the glory of your country right up close to you?

You watch your countrymen die
And people like your friends die
Don’t you feel like such a big boy? Playing war games for real

As you’ll step into new land, don’t you feel like such a big man?
Doing what they told you to
As you are near a battle, you look just like cattle
Being led over a cliff

You watch all your friends die
And people just like them die
Don’t you feel the glory of your country right up close to you?

You watch your countrymen die
And people like your friends die
Don’t you feel like such a big boy? Playing war games for real

People are playing soldiers in the land they hold down tight
The practice, it revolves; makes end what could have had more time
When you were playing soldiers as a child, back at home
Did you know you’d dissolve life while victims soldier on?

Now you look down your shooting hand, don’t you see it helped to drain this land of what did flow?
Now an internal battle tells you to carry on or renounce what caused this state

Now you’ll be viewed in grandeur, receive medals by the handful
Does it make up for what’s destroyed?
Who lived and died was chanced, all for someone else’s battle
Is this reflection that you want?

You watch all your friends die
And people just like them die
Don’t you feel the glory of your country right up close to you?

You watch your countrymen die
And people like your friends die
Don’t you feel like such a big boy? Playing war games for real

Men and women cry
Their families have died
Don’t you see that you’re the tool that made this all happen?

As you watch all your friends die
And people just like them die
Don’t you wish country wasn’t there?

As you watch all your friends die
And you make all of them die
Don’t you wish country wasn’t there?
